Apple TV reveals new space-race thriller series is coming soon

Apple TV’s space drama For All Mankind returns next month, but the streamer just revealed that its spinoff—Star City—will premiere soon too. Here are the details. Star City premieres May 29 as ‘For All Mankind’ spinoff For All Mankind was part of Apple TV’s very limited launch lineup of programming in November 2019. And it’s about to debut its fifth season. Right when that new season wraps up though, Apple has a spinoff space drama ready to launch. Star City hits Apple TV on Friday, May 29 with two episodes, followed by weekly releases through July 10. That premiere date is the exact day that For All Mankind’s season 5 finale will air, giving fans plenty more space drama to enjoy. In Star City, viewers get to follow many of the same events covered in For All Mankind, but from the perspective of the Soviet space program. Here’s Apple’s series summary: A bold new chapter inspired by the critically acclaimed space-race drama, “For All Mankind,” “Star City” is a propulsive paranoid thriller that takes us back to the key moment in the alt-history retelling of the space race — when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon. But this time, we explore the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humankind forward. The series stars Rhys Ifans (“House of the Dragon”) and hails from the same creative team as For All Mankind: Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Ronald D. Moore.
